Now, I'm not asking everybody to post a report every time they go out, but some of y'all could at least do like ecox and give a seasonal report on your home turf every month.

I am trying my damndest to keep the Sinclair section up with the Lanier section, but those guys do a pretty freakin good job. As usual Dirk, Skiffya, Mikemad and Screamin Reels are holding down the fort on Lanier. With honorable mentions to Brett30030, DaveBushCapt, and Jerry also on Lanier. Robert E is doing a good job with Allatoona, and Lakeandstream is jam up on Carters. Red Over White is keeping up with the NC side of things, but he's too involved with Mr whiskers to get anything with lines on it! Wink jonfishmacon is one of our roving reporters, hitting Jackson, Juliette, Sinclair and Oconee, way to go JON! Also Big Jeff has made a big impact posting reports on Allatoona, Carters, and Lanier. We've got some awesome reports from Lake Stripersoup as well from the heavy hitter for the year Shadnasty and also from fairweatherfisherman, EarlyBird, erik, and BDavis.

Hats of to you guys for the hard work in the field and for bringing it back to the proud, the few, the SOUP TROUPS! If you guys who fish and LURK and don't post reports appreciate what these guys are doing for you by trying to help out (nobody's forcing or paying them to post reports), please follow suit and make a blurb every now and then. There's LOTS of striper infested waters on my list that don't get reported on nearly enough. We have 560 members now! And how many names did I list above? It's a little sorry to not have more contributors, so C'MON GUYS LET'S GO FISHIN and bring us back some info....WIN OR LOSE! Water conditions, weather, what you did, maybe general location info, time of day fished, and anything else you want to add. Are there any birds showing up yet? Where did you see some breaking fish?

Keep in mind the only sections of Striper Soup which are viewable to the general public are the Striper Soup category, and Swap and Sell. The reports are private to 'Soup members ONLY! This is a BIG PRIVILEGE to have this information available to you.

A heartfelt thanks to all the guys listed above. Let's keep it UP!

If I forgot anybody, let me know.

Im guilty as charged, I haven't hit the Allatoona list in a while. I do have several excuses, I have been put on nights 6-6 and it has killed me. you can ask RE I have been non exsitent on the lake and to boot my motor is jacked up right now. I got some bad gas a couple months ago and Im still battling it. Looks like I am about to rebuild some carbs.

But with the cold weather coming in and the water temp dropping I will be back in action soon I hope and yea with a schedule change Very Happy

You are absolutely correct about having to go fishing to post a report. As soon as I get done with this last surgery on my arm and the doctor tells me it's ok to scratch my nuts with my left arm I'll be sure and post a report.

I am just curious how much our lurkers are fishing. I know of a few guys who are members who fish all the time and rarely to never make a post. I don't need them as members if it's going to be that way. We aren't mind readers, and we can't SEE what you are doing, so you MUST type it for it to be known. You just never know, somebody might be able to add to your catching arsenal, no matter how badass of a fisherman you may think you are.

You are correct Shawn. I will admit I was guilty of that and when you said something a few months ago I made it a point to post about my trips. The last trip I got to go on was almost a month ago and from what the dr said yesterday I can't even lift a beer can with my left arm for another month. This has been a hard year for me as far as fishing goes. I've had 2 surgerys since Feb and hopefully this last one corrected everything. I read this board daily just to get a little fix for what I am missing. Maybe I'll get to get out before long. If not I guess I can go back to surfing the porn sites and build my arm strength back up. Very Happy Maybe somebody thats been fishing and catching and not posting will START posting now and give me something to read.

As things start to slow down and the fish scatter out, I will give more reports. Just way too many lurkers to be giving out prime information.

Weather looks pretty darn good. Spoke to Jerry this morning - he said he lost "THE ONE" due to faulty tackle. That hurts.

Very Happy I talked to Jerry also and he said he will be back and try to get a look at the one he lost. (broke 40 pound pulled down in its self) I would say he will put a plug in for Anchor Marine also on the quick repair of his trolling motor. Mikemad the trout are happy in the cool clear water you put them in until I expose them to some striped monsters next week. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Are you talking about Anchor Marine off of Hwy 63? Winston is about the best they come. My dad is building a boat storage place right down the road from there. Some of you guys might have seen the fenced in area a couple miles west of there with a 32' camper and a new building.

Cool It is cool to be disgusting Chef kind of like the woman in the Dolly Parton wig song. Very Happy Winston Kilgore has one of the best / quickest young men (Nick Hoskins) on repair of trolling motors around. He is the only one I know that will work on it while you are there waiting. Smile Jeff I do know where the fence and camper are at. I have two sisters that live about a mile from there. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Ironically, I remember being in the boat with a couple of guys just a few days ago that asked me why I use reels with no level wind....I think one of 'em was named Jerry too! What a coincidence. Wink

Sorry you lost a good 'un but at least you got the thrill of having a shot at THE ONE again.

Reason enough for me to feel comfortable spending a little extra money on a reel I have more confidence in. It has happened to everybody who fishes a lot though. I can actually one-up you here, Jerry.

I had just gotten Shimano charter special lever drag. Spooled her with 30# B.G. and headed to the hog hole. Had it mounted on a regular All Star rod, but the reel was one of those pseudo saltwater deals with a larger than normal mounting foot. It went on the rod okay, I wasn't concerned about it. First pitch with a BIG skipjack, BIG hit. BIG hookup. BIG run. Fish made it about 20 feet until the line buried down in itself (from not spooling tight enough), and the reel RIPPED out of the seat. I was standing near the edge of the boat and this all happened in a fraction of a second. The reel rips out of the seat, slaps up against the first guide on the rod, the line pops down in the reel, and the reel falls straight down into 15' of flowing river water. BYE BYE brand new reel. I was looking pretty silly between the fact I was just standing there with a naked fishing rod and had a super dumbfounded look on my face. Fortunately, I learned, and this has never happened to me again.

Tim and Jim, you got me. I only have 22 reels and I took that one with me. After I lost Moby Dick, I grabbed a pencil and wrote a "G" for garbage on the reel. But I would consider letting it go for the right price. And Tim, can you believe when I got home I looked at Avents on ebay? Very Happy

Jerry that's sad to hear.....sometimes those are once in a lifetime fish, sometimes not. You reacted much different than what I would've though, so I have to give you credit for that. The reel would've never made it back to the ramp with a penciled in G on it.....I might would've contributed it to bottom structure for crappie in the winter time (or something). Twisted Evil

You know guys, if you'd just come to Indiana to fish, you wouldn't have to worry about tearing up any tackle, or loosing the BIG one!!!!! We catch most of our fish on Snoopy rods! Laughing Laughing

Sorry to hear it Jerry. Its akin to missing a big buck with my bow that I've hunted for three years. Just leaves a pit in your stomach!!

Nick hooked me up last week at Anchor Marine. I was up there today doing a little business. I did notice the new boat/rv storage on my way up there. I would like to also ad that I paid $2.84 a gallon for gas in Jacksboro TN. I think I will drive the extra miles up there to get gas from now on.

We are getting ASSRAPED down here on gas still. I haven't seen any cheaper than 3.47 (and that was on a 200 mile drive yesterday). It's still in the 3.70 range in Milledgeville. WTF Question Question Question Question Question I think I'll drive up there to get gas, too.

We absolutely are getting assraped....hell, I drive a diesel and still can hardly find it most of the time. Most places haven't started getting diesel back into their tanks yet - around where we are anyway. It's BS for sure.

Yep, I can believe it! Not much, fishing wise anyway, gets under my skin faster than a trip being screwed up or losing a fish due to equipment malfunction. I'm still looking for "The One" so can only imagine how fired up I'd be if I thought I'd lost it due to an equipment issue. I'd probably have thrown every one of that kind of reel I owned in the trash ASAP. Laughing

If you're really thinking about non-level wind, lever drag type reels, while the Avets are very nice reels, take a look at the Shimano TLD15 as well if you want to spend a little less $. They are a lot bigger/bulkier that the baby Avets for the same line capacity and the frames are plastic instead of machined aluminum, but are super durable and have great drags. You can also find 'em for about $100 brand new if you look hard enough. I've bought a couple from these guys in the past and had no issues with them.

http://www.rivermarinesupply.com/xcart/catalog/product_10614_Shimano_TLD_Single_Speed_Trolling_Reels.html

And I have to agree Capt Damnit....this thread has jumped topic more than any I can remember.
